How to Look Up Offenders in Marion
The main tool is iCrimeWatch Indiana. Search by city name or use the 46952 or 46953 zip codes to filter results to Marion. The results list all registered offenders in the area with their current address, photo, offense, and tier level. No account or payment is needed.
The Indiana Department of Correction runs a separate statewide database. Filtering by Grant County shows all offenders registered anywhere in the county. Both tools pull from the same state registry, so either one gives you accurate and current results.
The National Sex Offender Public Website is the right tool if you want to check whether someone has a registration history in states other than Indiana. It searches all 50 state registries at once.
Email Alerts
Indiana's iCrimeWatch system lets you sign up for free email alerts tied to a specific address. When a registered offender moves into or near your chosen location, you get an automatic email. This works for home addresses, relative's addresses, or locations like schools. Sign up directly through iCrimeWatch. It costs nothing.

Grant County Sheriff and Sex Offender Registration
Sex offender registration in Marion is a Grant County function. The Grant County Sheriff's Office registers all offenders who live in the city, handles annual and quarterly verifications, and is the first point of contact for questions about local registry compliance.
Grant County Sheriff's Office Address: 214 E 4th Street, Marion, Indiana 46953
Offenders must register at the sheriff's office within 72 hours of release from custody or within 72 hours of moving to a new address in Grant County. This rule applies whether someone is newly convicted, returning from another state, or just changing their home address within Indiana.
Most registrants verify their registration once per year. Sexually violent predators are required to verify every 90 days. The sheriff's office tracks these schedules, but the responsibility to show up on time belongs to the registrant.
Indiana's Registration Law
Indiana Code 11-8-8, known as Zachary's Law, has been in effect since January 1, 2003. It defines who must register, how often they must verify, how long they stay on the registry, and where they can legally live while registered.
The residency restriction bars registered offenders from living within 1,000 feet of any school, park, youth center, or childcare location. Marion has a number of schools and public parks. Before an offender registers a Marion address, the address must be verified as compliant with these distance rules. The sheriff's office checks this as part of the intake process.
Failure to register is a Level 6 felony under Indiana law. A Level 6 felony carries a sentence of six months to two and a half years in prison. If the person has a prior sex crime conviction, the charge escalates to a higher felony level. The law is enforced locally, not just by state agencies.
What the Registry Listing Contains
Each iCrimeWatch listing for a Marion offender shows the person's full legal name, known aliases, current address, date of birth, and a photo if one is available. The offense or offenses that triggered registration are listed, along with the conviction date and the offender's tier or classification level.
Tier level tells you how long the person must remain registered. Tier I may be eligible for removal after 10 years under specific conditions. Tier III and sexually violent predators remain registered for life. Work and school addresses, when registered, also appear in the listing alongside the residential address.
Reporting a Suspected Violation
If you believe someone in Marion is required to register but has not done so, or has moved without updating their address, report it to the Marion Police Department at (765) 668-4412 or to the Grant County Sheriff. Give the person's name and as much detail as you have. You do not need to have all the facts, but the more specific you can be, the faster the follow-up will go. Do not confront the individual on your own.
